Woohoo!

I got sick and tired of looking at bare walls and emptiness. I ordered these shelves and they came today. I sure hope I can put them together without pulling my hair out. :) HA!

My Weekend

This Saturday my ex came up for a visit. He offered to help me with some chores around my place that required either a.) heavy lifting or b.) the use of tools. For the most part this wouldn't be too note worthy, except for two things.....

1. I discovered I do in fact scream like a girl at the site dead animals. I honestly thought I was cool, too. About 4 years ago while getting out of my ex's car, I discovered a live snake within a matter of a few feet from me. He was arched up and looking directly at me. I did not scream. I was cool, calm and collected. This weekend, while assembling shelves in the garage, I discovered a dead frog. I had good reason to believe it was dead too, since I could hardly make out what it was because of the decomposition. I screamed. I even did a little dance, no joke.

2. While driving back from dinner Saturday night, it occurred to me that my ex may want to see my niece. I say this because next to mom and dad, he might be her favorite person. He certainly has me beat, but then again he bribes her with m&m's. I digress. He was excited at the possibility. When I called my sister, she told us Abby was down for the night as she had not had a nap that day. We were both bummed.

Who wouldn't be upset if they missed this? She's simply precious!

I'm back

I realize it has been awhile since I have posted. Truth is I’ve been going through a transition period. I have officially moved into my new place. Yes, I know that was two and a half months ago, but owning your own place is hard work. I’m still battling the decorating. To put it best my decorating leaves a little to be desired. Clearly my inability to make a decision is pretty apparent.

Work has been super busy. I work for two attorneys who practice real estate law and from how work has been you would never know the housing market has slowed down. I’ve decided to take a day off this coming Friday. I need a mental health day. Plus, I haven’t had a day off in over 4 months, besides the weekends of course. Thank God for those or I would have been committed by now.

In addition to work and settling in, I have about three ongoing projects. I hope to have one done in the next few weeks and hope to have a picture up for everyone to see. Until then, it’s top secret.

I hope you all are having a great Monday!

Nothing short of heartbreaking, but still a champion!

If you did not watch the women’s final 100M hurdle race at the Beijing Olympics, you need to. Lolo Jones, the favorite to win, hit the second to last hurdle causing her to lose the Olympic gold. She was ahead of her competitors coming into the final 20 meters when her lead leg hit the hurdle causing her to come in 7th place. After crossing the finish line, Lolo collapsed to the ground as if to figure out what had just happened. She like the rest of America was stunned and heartbroken. She nevertheless picked herself up, congratulated her teammates and gave the interviews. In one interview Lolo said if you can’t get over all 10 hurdles, you can’t be the champion. As someone in her home state, I can honestly say we believe she is a champion.

Cute Quirk or Addiction

I have some weird quirks. I know, I know everyone has them. But I’m here to admit one of them (yes, only one). I don’t want to scare anyone off just yet. When I get to work, I start my computer, grab a glass of cold water and sit in front of my monitor and immediately start reading my usual blogs. This process usually takes about 10 minutes. I do this before I open my work email, before I check voicemail messages and before I so much as utter a word to a single co-worker. I think it may be an addiction. In fact, it is just about as bad as all my co-workers who need a cup of coffee before they can function. Okay, and now for the worst part…. I don’t know these people. Something in passing has caught my eye – whether it’s their stories, their struggles or their writing. I hope one day to get to know some of you better!!!!
