If you did not watch the women’s final 100M hurdle race at the Beijing Olympics, you need to. Lolo Jones, the favorite to win, hit the second to last hurdle causing her to lose the Olympic gold. She was ahead of her competitors coming into the final 20 meters when her lead leg hit the hurdle causing her to come in 7th place. After crossing the finish line, Lolo collapsed to the ground as if to figure out what had just happened. She like the rest of America was stunned and heartbroken. She nevertheless picked herself up, congratulated her teammates and gave the interviews. In one interview Lolo said if you can’t get over all 10 hurdles, you can’t be the champion. As someone in her home state, I can honestly say we believe she is a champion.
