Cute Quirk or Addiction

I have some weird quirks. I know, I know everyone has them. But I’m here to admit one of them (yes, only one). I don’t want to scare anyone off just yet. When I get to work, I start my computer, grab a glass of cold water and sit in front of my monitor and immediately start reading my usual blogs. This process usually takes about 10 minutes. I do this before I open my work email, before I check voicemail messages and before I so much as utter a word to a single co-worker. I think it may be an addiction. In fact, it is just about as bad as all my co-workers who need a cup of coffee before they can function. Okay, and now for the worst part…. I don’t know these people. Something in passing has caught my eye – whether it’s their stories, their struggles or their writing. I hope one day to get to know some of you better!!!!

Lolo

Okay, I had a very exciting event happen today. Lolo Jones (the fastest woman in the world) came and visited our work. She is expected to win gold at the upcoming Olympics. If you don’t know who she is, you will by the end of the Olympic games. First, I need to be shallow and say how incredibly gorgeous she is. She is stunning. More importantly though she was incredibly gracious, outgoing and warm. It makes me proud to see a woman out there representing us in a positive light. In addition, she is from Des Moines, too!

18 Days and Counting....

Last night was an enjoyable evening, for the most part. I managed to workout, eat a good dinner and watch a three hour season finale – the Bachelorette. The weather, while stormy, was even great. It rained much of the evening and despite the occasional lightning and thunder that would cause the TV to flutter it seemed to cool the temperatures down, but only slightly.

When I headed to bed last night I was still revved from the finale. While she didn’t choose the guy I had predicted, I honestly don’t think she could have gone wrong either way. There I laid wondering if I would ever fall asleep. The temperature in the house was unbearable. Before long I was fixated on it and it seemed no amount of day dreaming I was in a bikini in Alaska seemed to cool me down. I toss. I turned. I opened windows wider. I turned the ceiling fan up a notch. Nothing was working. The last time I let myself look at the clock was 11:50. Needless to say I am tired today.

Now you are maybe wondering what the countdown is for. In 18 days I close on my townhome. My townhome has air conditioning. In 18 days I will be sleeping there…. in my townhome… with the air conditioning blasting.
